Sustainability

Our Perspective

At Nu Senses, sustainability begins with a simple principle:

The closer a material is to the human body, the more responsibility it carries.

Clothing is worn directly on the skin. The materials we choose therefore matter not only for comfort, but also for health, durability, and environmental impact.

Our collections are built primarily around natural fibers such as cashmere, selected for their softness, breathability, and long-term performance.

Rather than treating sustainability as a marketing concept, we approach it through materials, craftsmanship, and longevity.

Natural Fibers

Cashmere and wool are among the most remarkable fibers used in textile manufacturing.

They are:

  • renewable — sheep and goats grow new fleece every year
  • biodegradable — protein-based fibers that naturally decompose in soil
  • durable — capable of lasting for many years when properly cared for
  • thermoregulating — naturally breathable and temperature adaptive

According to the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO), wool fibers contain a significant proportion of natural carbon as part of the biological carbon cycle. This means the fiber originates from renewable biological processes rather than petroleum-based resources.

Unlike many synthetic fabrics, natural fibers do not release microplastics during washing, which have become a growing environmental concern in global waterways.

For these reasons, natural fibers remain the foundation of responsible knitwear production.

Craft & Longevity

A garment’s sustainability is closely linked to how long it is worn.

Fast-fashion garments are often designed for short-term use, leading to frequent replacement and increased waste.

By contrast, high-quality knitwear made from natural fibers can remain in a wardrobe for many years.

At Nu Senses, our knitwear is produced using fine-gauge constructions such as 18-gauge knitting, which create lightweight fabrics while maintaining structural integrity.

This balance between softness and durability allows garments to maintain their shape and performance over time.

Longevity reduces the need for repeated production and replacement — an often overlooked but meaningful aspect of responsible clothing.

Responsible Material Standards

Safety and transparency are essential in textile manufacturing.

For garments intended for babies or highly sensitive skin, Nu Senses follows OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class I, the most stringent level of textile safety certification.

This certification verifies that textiles have been tested for harmful substances and are safe for direct contact with delicate skin.

Our approach to material responsibility includes:

  • selecting high-quality yarns from reputable spinning mills
  • prioritizing natural fiber composition
  • providing clear information about fiber content and care instructions

We believe customers should understand what their clothing is made of and how it should be cared for.

Transparency

Modern fashion supply chains are complex, and many brands disclose very little information about the materials they use.

Transparency helps build trust between brands and the people who wear their garments.

Where possible, Nu Senses aims to provide information regarding:

  • fiber composition
  • yarn sourcing
  • material certifications
  • care guidance for long-term garment use

Clear information allows customers to make more informed decisions about what they wear.

A Continuous Commitment

Sustainability is not a final destination.

It is a process of constant improvement — learning more about materials, refining production decisions, and designing garments that people genuinely want to keep.

As a young brand, our commitment is simple:

  • prioritize natural materials
  • design knitwear intended to last
  • remain transparent about our standards

Small decisions, applied consistently, can create meaningful impact over time.

Material Responsibility

Ultimately, sustainability is about respect:

  • respect for natural resources
  • respect for craftsmanship
  • respect for the people who wear our garments

At Nu Senses, responsible knitwear begins with the integrity of materials and continues through every stage of design and use.
